What’s Wrong Western Woman? is a new body of work that excavates into the theory that something may be missing from the lives of the privilege Western Woman.
The premise for this exhibition examines the politics of promised women empowerment and the concept of a “global sisterhood.” It explores the myth of a secret online women’s circle but also addresses the resurgences of real-life women’s circles that are beginning to operate out of Yoga studios and Red Tents across Australia and the rest of the western world.
This body of work explores how community-building strategies, spiritual healing practice and appropriated cultural traditions are encouraging women to rise mind, body and spirit creating a global women’s health and wellbeing entrepreneurial movement available to the privileged Western Woman to buy in to.
